A fine Day for Ice Cream!

Sunday I hosted an Ice Cream Social for my Longaberger customers. What a lovely, relaxing day we had sitting pool side, enjoying yummy ice cream sundaes from our new Longaberger Pottery Sundae dishes.
An assortment of colors looked so festive! Each gal received a sundae spoon as well to take home with her dish.
My toppings "corral" I love these new Longaberger containers. Inside the white lidded dish are the chopped sundae peanuts and the red one is hold the "cherries" for the top! Yum!!!!

A small Longaberger display of July's featured items ... The ladies did a little shopping, a little ice cream eating and finally ...
A little swimming! Marcia had the right idea by wearing her swim suit T-Shirt! So adorable and the little purple hat topped off the whole day. She is such a fun gal. And a very fun day.

The month is almost over ....

My "almost" son-in-law is just the best guy.
All I need to do is say his name and he's there, asking "what do you need."

This antenna has been disconnected since I've lived in this house but it was attached to the chimney ... a few weeks ago the straps snapped and the antenna fell onto the roof.  I was expecting it to fall off at any time and hopefully not fall into the pool! Shawn graciously climbed up there on brought the whole mess down!

 Thank you Shawn!!

Day 27

July 27th

a re-cycled gift, aren't they just the best kind!!
My dear friend Rita called and left me a message, she wanted to drop off the bench this morning. Oh, so excited, I love this bench and she was going to give it to me! For FREE! Oh this was so cool.

Her hubby, Chuck brought it inside and graciously helped move around some other pieces to make way for the new bench.

Isn't it so cute!  It is so much narrower then the couch making the entry much wider and more open.

Another angle ...

The settee has moved into the living room and it seems quite happy there!

The buggy bench is now in front of the couch with Abby riding her horse!

I was taking my daughter and friend Tanya to lunch on a Saturday and as I whizzed by a garage sale Tanya said "go back, there is a really cute cabinet sitting out there." Yep, it was cute ... she didn't want it, but I did!!

A small little chest just a perfect place for me to tuck in some doll quilts! The wool piece draped in the front was made by my very dear friend Paula. I paid $10.00!! Worth every penny!!

A Lazy Summer Day ....

My daughter-in-law, Lacey just posted a picture of their day on the lake ...
Looking at it took me back 40 years to my own lazy summer daze!
Remember when all you had to worry about was finding a bathing suit to put on and a place to cool off in? Maybe the neighbor's pool, or the public plunge. A trip to the pacific ocean and the chance to jump into the pounding waves.

"Rough Life"
My 7 year old grand daughter has found the perfect spot to stay cool and take a nap! She's on her daddy's boat at Lake Ruth ... oh what a life.

The beautiful simplicity of WHITE ....

When I made my first purchase of Longaberger Pottery I chose white. With white you can't go wrong. You can dress them up for a summer Tea Party or down for a BBQ. No matter what your event theme may be, white always works.
Like white, pewter is always a great choice. You can leave it au natural' or dress them up with a flower ....
After a quick visit to Michael's Craft Store and a sticky  Zot I have transformed my plain pewter napkin ring to one "pretty in pink"
A crisp white napkin ...
And an assortment of tea cups and saucers ..
Tomorrow I will bring the whole thing together!

Stirring Up Memories ...

I was working in my home office this morning and as always I had the TV on to keep me company. I had the TV Land channel on, love this channel since it plays very old programs such as, Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, Hazel ... she was the best! Hazel had a fix for everything, wish I had a Hazel today! Well this morning the original Mickey Mouse Club was on. Before long I had stopped what I was doing, sat down on the floor and sat watching my old friends. I say old friends because that's what they felt like. My eyes filled with tears as I watched a very young Annette Funichello. She looked so happy, free from the pain that her future would hold for her.

Annette is right next to Lonnie

Growing up in So. California had a lot of perks. One of those was Disneyland and it was only a few miles away. Every summer my mom would pack me up in the old green Pontiac and we would spend the day with Walt and all his imiginary friends. Dad worked while we played, life was so easy, so simple, so good.

Opening day 1955
Summer always conjours up wonderful childhood memories. Long days running barefoot throughout the neighborhood. Making our own popsicles and sitting under the huge elm tree on the cool damp grass in our front yard to eat them. No one had a pool, but we all had sprinklers to run through. We would let the hose run all over the hot sidewalks and then lay on them ... they felt nice and warm, like a towel out of a hot dryer.

In the evenings our parents would sit outside on the front porch steps and visit. The houses in the 50's didn't have air conditioners and by evening the inside was warm and stuffy pushing all the residents out doors. We ran the streets playing "spot" a game of hide and seek with a flash light. We had sleep overs in each others back yards, told scary stories, ate pop corn and drank RC Colas.

Life was so easy, so innocent. We didn't no anything about child predators, harsh chemicals like aspartame in our food or autism. The only person that brought a gun into a theater was John Wayne and he was on the screen.

The 50's were great ....

July 12 - Park Ave ....

July 12

When I hear Park Ave I automatically think of New York City ... The Park Ave in Stanton, Ca. is anything BUT New York! My very long time friends Penny and Debbie treated me and my hubby Joe to a wonderful dining experience at The Park Ave.

That is our table on the left! We are seated in Il Garage over looking the garden where they grow all the produce used in their cuisine! If you visit my FACEBOOK page this is where my mystery pictures were taken.
Catching some butterflies ...

Peeking from one garden to another! This was like the book the Secret Garden

My dad operated a Caterpillar all my life, he would have loved to see this classic! The dining room had two completely renovated tractors as part of their decor, loved them!
The food in this portion of the Park Ave all has an Italian flare to it. The appetizers were amazing and the dessert .... oh my don't get me started! Thank you, thank you Debbie, Bill, Penny and Bob.

My birthday gift from Penny is a Quilt in a Jar kit! She cut most of the pieces for me as well and hand cross stitched my label ... now I have to get busy and make it!

Debbie made me this beautiful star 36 inch table square!! LOVE the colors she chose, this is such a gift of love.

I just had to share this star made from rulers, Debbie had this tied to the top of my box, LOVE It!!

Celebrating Amy ....

A week ago Friday our Longaberger Manager, Debbie Linamen came to my house to host a small celebratory get together with Amy to present her with her awards for Sales and Sponsoring in her Longaberger business. It was a surprise, so I got up early and set up the patio table.

Set out the infamous chalk board! Love this thing!!

Amy, her high school friend Terri and Ms Debbie.

Debbie brought warm, home made cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing! OMG, they were to die for!
For her hard work Amy was presented an adorable set of long legged black crows, (perfect for decorating our displays!) AND a gift card to Brighton Collectibles! I took Amy to the local Brighton Shop the very next day and she was able to get herself a darling brown patten leather wallet with a silver clasp! Way to go Amy and congratulations on your 2012/13 achievements!

Amy is #4 in our entire branch of 81 women!
