Hooot .... Hoooooot!!!

What goes Hoot?? Yep, it's the owl. I love owl's, they are so wise .... So what could be wiser then joining with this smart creature and going into business?? I recently attended a Living Locket party at a friends home and was immediately enchanted with the idea of creating my own lockets!

The name of the company is Origami Owl, created by a very savvy 14 year old named Bella from Chandler, Arizona. The concept is you purchase a crystal locket in silver, gold or rose gold either plain or adorned with crystals. You then fill the locket with your choice of tiny charms, birthstones or even your own tiny keepsakes. You select one of several styles of chains and before you know it you have created your own locket! These can commemorate a special event i.e, weddings, babies, sports, engagements, friendships or even a memorial locket.

I thought this would be a fun business venture and chose Saturday to launch my Origami Owl Living Locket open house.

Welcome friends!!

The table was set ... I served cupcakes, strawberries and chocolate filled raspberries ...

The chocolate covered strawberries were a hit! Everyone of them was gone!!

Pretty Tiffany Blue cupcakes!
My Jewelry Bar ...

Containers filled with tiny little charms, thus the magnifying glass!

Cute little pewter tags hanging on my Longaberger Cottage pitcher and stand!

Pretty, sparkly dangles ....
A travel and a sports locket ....

My daughter Tiffany's engagement locket ... So pretty!
My first shoppers! Little Sage is only 3 and was one of my youngest shoppers!

Decisions, decisions .....
Three generations, long time neighbor and friend Irene, daughter Misty and grand daughter Sage ... so happy they came!
So many happy memories with these wonderful women!

Tanya was a God send, she was in charge of the kitchen!!

Tiffany assisting a friend and customer with an order.
Such a wonderful day watching friends create their own lockets! I can't wait until all the orders come in and see what they made. Thanks to all of you for joining me!!

If you have followed my blog you might have picked up n the fact that I love the Dollar Tree and the 99 Cent Stores! Since I am hosting an Origami Owl Jewelry Bar Open House this weekend I was picking up a few things at the Dollar Tree. While there I found this cool looking bottle of Sweet Tea. I love Sweet Tea and thought this would be nice to serve at the open house. I bought one bottle to taste before I bought any more.

Isn't this bottle and label cool? And just one dollar.
Well, yesterday morning I decided I had better sample this tea before I headed over to the Dollar Tree to stock up on more. I poured some in a glass, took a gulp and about died! Oh it was sweet alright ... however, it's WHISKY! 8:00 am in the morning and I'm gulping whisky. What a shocker that was to the system. After I finished gagging I picked up the bottle to examine it a bit closer. Right there on the back label are the alcohol contents etc. Well, well, well, I don't think I will be serving this to my guests on Saturday!
Don't be me .... read your labels!

What's a Dog to Do?

I got busted this morning .... It's been a long time since I've been able to blog but the boss keeps a close eye on the computer! She was busy in her office this morning and I was really, really cold. She took my blankets last night to wash them, she said they "smelled" what nerve, telling me I stink! So back to being cold, I was lying on the cold leather couches and right there above me were two quilts just hanging on the wall. Whats that all about anyway, quilts are blankets, they keep us warm, not hang on walls!!! Every dog knows that. So me being the smart Boston Terrier that I am I jumped up on the back of the couch and pulled one of those hanging quilts down ....

I got busy and fluffed it the best I could to make myself a nice comfy bed and wouldn't you know it, the boss comes walking in to the living room. CAUGHT red handed on her quilt. Of course she gets all weird about it and asks what's going on here. What are you doing on my quilt? Bla bla bla. Wouldn't you think she would know by now that I don't speak people. Why ask me things that I can't possibly answer. Notice how I am trying to be invisible ....

She's taking pictures as evidence that I pulled the quilt off the wall ....

OK, OK, you caught me, yep, I took the quilt off your precious holder. I didn't break anything so give me a BREAK!

Oh man, here she comes again. If she catches me on the blog I'll be kicked outside for sure!!

Unexpected Easter Guests

I was up bright and early Easter morning. There is something calming and restoring that happens to my soul in the early hours and on Easter I especially appreciate the calm. I went to early mass and when I got home I realized I had some visitors!
Not the usual kind .... but there, on my power lines outside my patio window sat a pair of beautiful bright green parriots! Oh my gosh, I was so surprised.
This picture just does not show how beautiful they truly are. It was a gray overcast morning, I'm sure if the sun were shining I could have captured their beautiful color. They also have red heads and bright yellow beaks! On the down side ... they are NOISY. There squawking could easily raise the dead!
A little close look with my zoom lens. So peaceful, just sitting there quietly looking at me looking at him .....

A wider angle of them over the pool. Just another reminder of the gifts God has given to us on this Easter morning.
The Easter Bunny made a few deliveries while I was away. He left these behind for my daughter ...

and this was left for ME! How do those Easter bunnies know what I like??? Humm, just an amazing breed of creatures. Not captured in a picture are his gifts to Mr. Taylor! He received 2 pounds of Salt Water Taffy from Balboa Island! His very favorite thing. So again I ask .... how does the Easter Bunny do it? He must get tips and training from Santa!

A happy girl with her basket! Notice her beautiful Origami Owl necklace, so pretty!!
We had such a nice relaxing day. Tanya spent the day with us eating, laughing and sharing and ended the evening watching the final episode of the Bible, The Passion. I cried, covered my eyes and felt ill at the idea of what humans do to each other. My husband and I were sharing some thoughts this morning in reflection of the Bible. We agree, the more we are enlightened the more we don't understand and the less we know .... How can that be?

Easter Blessings ...

Tomorrow will be hectic ... mass in the morning, breakfast and Easter treats followed with dinner. Joe and I will be having some friends for dinner along with my daughter. Shawn, her fiance' flies to Dayton, Ohio early tomorrow morning for his job so he will miss our Easter celebration! With so many activities I may forget to wish you all a very Happy Easter! Our savior, Jesus will have symbolically risen from the dead ... let us rejoice and be glad!
